Pasting a visual item should put it on the visible part of the diagram
If I copy-paste an element when I'm over at the edge of a wide diagram, it gets pasted into what would I think be the centre of the screen if I was at the top-left of the diagram. So I have to scroll over to find it, and scroll back to place it. It's a little thing, but intensely annoying having just spent the afternoon working on that part of a diagram! :o)

Include ownership dot in asociations
UML 2.5 includes a new symbol for associations: the ownership dot (https://www.uml-diagrams.org/association.html).
It could be very interesting to include it in this wonderful tool.

Ability for customization background color
We can change the diagram background color, but not the editor's background color. So, it would be perfect to add this feature.

Update harfbuzz in AppImage
The AppImage for StarUML currently crashes under Manjaro and Arch Linux due to including an old version of the harfbuzz library.

Add accessibility preference for background color
This has been requested many times. It was supposedly already fixed in version 3.0, according to this issue. But it is certainly not fixed in version 3.1.
For me it's an accessibility issue. Your otherwise excellent program is rendered (no pun intended) unusable, because 2/3 of the screen is a painfully glaring white.

artifact instance deploy to node instance
StarUML does not allow an artifact instance to deploy to a node instance.
An error "Invalid connection (UMLDeployment)" is displayed.

Diagram background-color
Please let us change diagram background color, which is now white. White is too aggressive for eyes in dark environment ... I would prefer to change to some greyish tone.

Bigger Canvas
Bigger Canvas for ER-Model and other diagram. I cannot move to the edge of the digram unless I zoom out a lot, but the edge objects become inaccessible if I use normal size(e.g. 80%).
26 votesHi,
This issue can be handled at StarUML V4 release. You can manually canvas size as described in the docs: https://docs.staruml.io/user-guide/customization#custom-diagram-canvas-size
This way is not the fundamental solution, but it can be a temporal solution. Thanks,

Change the diagram editor background color
We can change the diagram background color, but not the editor background color. This is by far my biggest complaint with the tool and the one thing holding my team back from adopting it.
To be clear, I'm referring to the area of the tool with the grid background. The one that displays all of your diagrams.

C4 Model diagrams support
There is yet another way to model the software architecture with C4 models where C1 is a helicopter view and C4 is a class diagram zoom level (see more https://c4model.com/). Components used for C4 modelling are simple but have some notation rules.

Create snap packages for linux
snap packages have better compatibility for Linux distros with support for it because all dependencies come inside the packages. Tried to install staruml on Ubuntu 17.10 and 18.04 beta and failed because of dependecies
15 votesAppImage (instead of snap) is supported now at StarUML 3.0

Make the sequence number of a message in a communication diagram an editable property
I don't care if you only allow simple integers for sequence numbers, I just need to be able to reorder those numbers after I've inserted new messages or removed old ones.

Support UI/UX Prototyping
I know the main concept of this great tool is support UML for engineer work (mostly in the backend). But, have you ever think in give also a little bit of support for UI/UX prototyping? It don't need to have a complete palete of component, but just the basics. Freelance coder sometimes have to model this for their clients, and having the chance for doing this from the same tool they use for another models, would be great.

Add direction of association name
The direction of an association name is normally a small filled triangular arrow head pointing either left or right (◄ and ►) (◄ and ►). It makes reading an association easier.
For example, say you have classes DEVICE and SCHEDULE with an association between them labeled "applies to." If there is no arrow, it's difficult to read: does the device apply to schedule or the schedule to the device?
|DEVICE| ------ applies to ------ |SCHEDULE|
With the arrow it becomes unambiguous:
|DEVICE| ----- ◄ applies to ----- |SCHEDULE|
The above is now read as "Schedule applies to device."
The arrow…
